1. This gives me the idea that these people are hiding behind masks and are hiding their real feelings.
2. This is just like in Fahrenheit 451, how Montag is hiding behind a mask of happiness and the girl he met has just removed it.
3. “He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had ran off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way of going to knock on her door and ask for it back.”
4. This quotation is exactly what Guy Montag is feeling and it relates to what the image develops.

Are you Happy?
Apr.-24-08
1.How these people are hiding behind fake identities.

2.Montag is hiding behind a “mask” of happiness which he just ripped off and found out he is NOT happy.

3.“He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way of going to knock on her door and ask for it back”

4.The quote I chose relates to our picture because Montag took his mask off when he met Clarrise, and these two people look like they are about to take off their mask.

The poem develops the message that are you happy with your life? It relates to the book because little Clarisse askes Guy Montag this.He likes his job, but once he starts thinking about it, he discovered that he isn't. "Are you happy?" she said (Pg. 10). My quote is relevant to the chosen theme because in the book, the exact question is asked.

This image gives the message that two people are trying to hide their true feelings. They wear masks to hide their true feelings. The masks may make them look happy, but underneath them neither of them are smiling. Maybe they are trying to hide from each other. This image relates to Fahrenheit 451 because the people mask their happiness, but underneath it, they are not happy at all. “He wore his happiness like a mask, and the girl had ran off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way of going to knock on her door and ask for it back.” Page 12. My quote relates to my message because they both relate to people’s happiness being just a mask, and people believe the masks are real, and that is their true feelings. However, sometimes it is all just an act.

This picture shows that these people are hiding something from the world and putting on a different face for others. It also shows that they don’t want to show what they truly feel to people outside their homes. This message relates to the novel because Montag realizes that he wasn’t happy and that he was only showing a mask of his happiness to the world. He realizes this when Clarisse asks him if he is happy. A quotation that shows this is “He wore his happiness like a mask”
(12). This quotation relates to this theme because it shows that Montag is wearing a mask and that he isn’t happy at all. He wants to be happy but now he realizes that his mask is gone. His mask was what has kept everyone thinking that he is happy. It has been revealed to him that he will not be happy until he finds true happiness.

The message I got from the poem was that they are taking off thier masks of happiness like in the book when Guy Montag said that his mask of of happiness was stolen by the girl and it made him think if his true happiness was in burning stuff.

I like Mary's comment because it uses good vocab and it also is very descriptive. It really gives me a good idea of what she meant.

1. This picture shows the idea of a person not being able to express their feelings. They are happy on the outside but unhappy on the inside. They are expressing untrue feelings.
2. The message from the picture relates to the novel Fahrenheit 451, Montage looks happy on the outside but hasn’t thought deeply on how he feels on the inside. As he, walks home form work one day, he meets a women and she questions him on his job and if he is happy. As she leaves, he begins to question himself. Was he happy?
3. “He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way of going to knock on her door and ask for it back”.
4. This is relevant because after she had taken his happiness mask away he relized he wasn’t happy.

I like Spencer's because he related the image to the book well. Jack's is good because he analyzed the picture very well. Summer had a good quote.

Fahrenheit 451

1. In this image two people are taking off there masks so I think the masks are representing there happiness .I think that because in the picture they seem to be sad or the opposite of happy.

2. This picture relates to the novel Fahrenheit 451 because in the book montag has been a follower, and does everything the law tells him to do, but then comes a lady called clarisee and asks montag if he was happy. Right at the end of chapter 2 he said on page 12 “He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off across the lawn with the mask and there is no way to knock on the door and ask for it back”

3. montags quotation on page 12 “He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off across the lawn with the mask and there is no way to knock on the door and ask for it back”

4. Because in the picture the idea is about the happiness mask and thats what the quotation talks about.

on the outside you seem happy and cheerful but on the inside when you think about it are you really happy and hiding behind a mask.

In the novel Fahrenheit 451 there is a lady that follows Guy Manteg the fireman. He always seems proud of himself, like nothing could go any better, but then when he confronts the white clothed figure, she wasn't impressed with his boastfulness. When she leaves, the lady asked are you really happy? Which made him think deeply about who he is.

“He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way of going to knock on her door and asking for it back”

She made him realize was he really happy? This made him think what is wrong in his life, is his job against all that is right and what is good to all of us. All along was he hiding behind a mask? was he focusing on being happy falsely to cover up for the bad things he wants to forget.

Are you happy?

This picture shows that these people are afraid of showing their true faces to the world. Guy Montag had one of these faces and masks, while in the book Clarisse McClellan is showing her true face. While they were leaving each other Clarisse took away Guy’s “happy” mask and asked: “Are you Happy?”

“Do you read any of the books you burn?” This is when Guy Montag just met Clarisse and she questions him about his job and what he does to the books he burns.

1. What message or ideas does the image convey to you?
The image shows a couple that are wearing masks. This shows that they are ‘masking’ their emotions, and not being truthful.
2. Relate this message to the novel.
In the novel, Guy Montag talked about having his mask taken away by Clarisse McClellan, and wanting to have it stolen back, as he was not used to being without his smile.
3. ‘He wore his happiness like a mask.’
4. Guy Montag’s smile hid his feelings like a mask. The quotation precisely exemplifies my message relating to the novel because it shows that he felt he was hiding his emotions with a mask.

'Are you happy?' By Shay
1. The picture gives me the idea that these people are hiding behind masks because they are uncomfortable to talk or show their real feelings.
2. This relates to the novel because Montag was hiding behind his mask of happiness and Clarisse ran away with it.
3. 'He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off acroos the lawn with the mask adn there was no way of going to knock on her doo and ask for it back.'
4. This quotation is exactly what Montag is feeling when Clarisse runs away. I think this relates to my ideas because just like the picture Montag was hiding behind a mask of happiness and now someone had taken it off and Montag cannot get it back then put it back on.
